Penguin:

Ahhh ... look who is creeping out the "Bat Cave" ... Brucy is loose again ...

Tell me ... where is your little playmate Robin? Out and shopping for new tights? Well, I could show you some ... have a look here:

http://www.fotocommunity.com/pc/pc/cat/3354/display/8052986

But buddy, don't think that you will look only a bit like that model if you wear them ...

You and your little friend - i wonder if he runs on batteries by the way - you will look as dumb as ever ...

Maybe you want to start taking photos of the both of you ... something like "Baddie Boy and his little friend share lingerie". If so, you could get some good advise from this lady:

http://www.fotocommunity.com/pc/account/myprofile/797437

She is responsible for the very well done series with the tights ...

Finally: Who do you think you are? Do you really think the Arkham asylum could be a threat to me?

Baby, I survived gallery selfproposals and fotocommunity.com Members Talk ... compared to that Arkham is kind of party to me ...

Come on ... you can do better, Wayne!

Penguin out!

Orca:

yeeeeeehaaaaaahhh!!!!

who in the world told you lil guy that I was a comic figure?

Well, just wait. When I'll have you right on my dinner plan, even you will find out that I'm as real as real can get! :)

In the meantime, I discovered that the good guys, the ones you obviously don't seem to like, have gladly taken you on with the challenge you gave them:

http://www.fotocommunity.com/pc/pc/cat/10072

So I sure hope on seeing lots of people's ideas of how to treat you properly, hehe....

P.S.: If anyone needs me as model, gimme a call ;)

hi dear mr.pinguin, its nice to bash yo there!!.

an effective and fun image that demonstrates the lighter side of all the work and commitment that goes into high-level english riding disciplines such as the dressage training at the spanish riding school in vienna. nothing beats taking your horse out of the arena and out for a regular old fun ride. we've all earned the right to play! this lovely spanish horse is a very patient 'diving platform' ;)

very smart =)

On this new home page, much improved, we don't see anymore how many members are on line.
Where could we get this information now ?

I think this is a bad idea, first have a look at the text forums and you know why, there are only a few members active, it will only work for those few members who are active in the text forums. If you think FC is about to be active in a text forum then it's a good idea, but to my knowledge FC is about communities not about blogging.
On the other side I think the whole idea of the front page is wrong, everybody wants to show there pictures on the front page, I really don't know why some members are on the front page and others not. I find it very annoying that it is not made clear who decides which members are on the front page and which not. By making this front page in this way and being not open about the policy of why placing photo's on the front page you have created A- members and B-members. I'm one of the most active members on FC, but I haven't seen my pictures on the front page yet, this can only mean to me that some one at FC has decided that I'm a B-member, this doesn't matter toe me but it would have been fair if you had contacted me about that fact, now it is only a reason to get very annoyed and even thinking of leaving FC.

I strongly believe this is a case of mistaken respect.

All major religions demands the slaughter of non-followers, they teach disrespect for women, violence against children and whatever else horrible - not that this is how these religions are *normally* practiced, but these are just some of the core values in their scriptures, some of the fundamental values... and for those that follow the fundamental values - the fundamentalists - it is how they live, abuse and kill ---- religion as such deserves no respect.

People derserve respect - people deserve all the respect that they earn - religion just doesn't.

There is no reason to respect religion, any more or less than there is reason to respect a certain political party, or a philosophical persuasion - these are open for debate, attack and defense.

I find this tiptoeing around religion, not respectful, but cowardly and no less disagreeable than if you demanded special respect for neo-nazism, socialism or liberalism.... whatever anyone does will be offensive to some, if it has any value at all, otherwise we end up having 2 billion pictures of flowers.

Way to go, i like it lots!! Thanks for the new features.

Mikael

I hate this. Why must you fix things that are not broken? OK, end of rant. I'm sure other people love it.

What don´t you open a CONTEST on religious photographs? I am sure that more than ten photographers in here could teach the world about approaching other religions in a mature and respectful way.

BTW: Mr. Soren Olin should go and buy himself some books or travel a little bit...
He has not (not for his opinion, not for his pictures and definitively not for his way of thinking...) EARN my respect.

I agree with Sorren, till when are we going to tolerate intolerance?!!!

When:

Lucky bugs. I'd kill to just stand on Martin's balcony for that view.

When: there's no need to kill. Just ring at the doorbell... :)

when will we know the outcome?

This is wonderful news! Thanks!

That is truly awesome. The beautiful work posted here will only be more incredible!

I haven't stood on the balcony at Martin's house, but I heve seen where it is located.........you lucky, lucky man Martin. It was great to meet you, Grit and tove in Bergen, along with Atle and Norbert.........and we managed yet another impromptue meet with Martin Totto and dear Christianne :))))))))

Sue

That is so wonderful! :-)
Thanks to all of you! :-)
Dianna

wow, i'm excited.
this is a massive step forward to increase the quality of uploaded images, well done.

Thanks! This is great news and will mean less fiddling with compression figures and loss of quality detail. And no more forgetting to click the double upload feature. Kathryn

Great !!
as other happy to know pictures will add quality;)
thanks a lot FC !

I really think that the old menu was better.
I don't like it.
Like the comment above:

"Why must you fix things that are not broken?"
Also the "Qwikmail" doesn't keep flashing, to let you know that you received new mail, or Fotomail.

I like. Being a new member I'm not to attached with the older menu.

Why does fotocommunity impose such a low limit.
All other sites from flickr to picasa are more generous.
And if there needs to a limit at all why make it such an odd number and not a typical screen size like 1024
or 1280?

i think i am going to enjoy this . can you tell how i can send photos by email to you shirley

i am so excited with maurice clegg work .i hope some i will be as good shirley-talbot@hotmail.com

Thank you very much mr Robert Max Steenkist, for your direct assault on my person, i am happy to inform you that your type of respect is something i have no interest in, so nothing lost.

My comment was on religion as a whole, and came with no personal attacks, my comments were purely fact based, and gave no reason for personal attacks - if you have problems understanding the text, or disagree with it, please comment on the topic and text, and refrain from pissing down my neck.

As for my books, and travels around the globe you clearly have no knowledge, i would appreciate it if you could stick to commenting on things, about which you actually have a little knowledge - however silent that would leave you - at the very least when you attack my person.

If in the future you feel a strong urge to trash the pics ive published here, please do so in a suitable forum, either directly as comments on my pics, or in other suitable venues on the site, and not in this public thread where it has no bearing.

It would be great...Gamble and Shooting...that's far west...!
Good luck guys...Spread the FC word to the world.

Bigger photos will bring more quality, but keep in mind that there are also more chances to have them used by someone else without you even knowing it...

Exemple of one of mine..
http://concoursphoto.voyages-sncf.com/popup_gagnants.html
its "La photo de la semaine du 27 aout au 02 septembre"...
If you dont care about situations like this, than no big deal.
Anyway the extra size will bring more quality to the people who sees this amazing place...and works!
Cheers and keep with the good work

When:

Why don't you glob trotters head up to Seattle while your here?

This is a beautiful news. Enjoy your time there.
Too far for me unfortunatelly..... but this is great for FC.
Keep it up !
I'm new here, but enjoy the site when I can come and participate.

@When: Our time in the US is a little too short for a trip to Seattle. :)
@Giorgos & Marie-Ancolie:

????....do I miss the Bus..
Question !!??

Hi, earlier today I uploaded a pic called "Postcard" for the Midsummer contest. a red "a" appears, I would like to know what that means. Also, my name does not appear on it, why can that be? Thanks a lot.

I think this is a great idea. I have often wondered if anyone looked at my profile, I am a member of another photo-posting website, where this information is available, and I find it very supportive.

I think this is a great idea. I have often wondered if anyone looked at my profile, I am a member of another photo-posting website, where this information is available, and I find it very supportive.

and how exactly can i check who has visited my profile?

It is an interesting tool to use or not to use.

well, a contest is anomynous, that is what the A stands for and that is why your name can't be seen. Sorry, but since you made your photo non-anomynous now, I will have to take it out of the contest...

Fantastic photo

For the "privilege of uploading a photo to FC we assign the copyright to "Tour Eiffel - Illuminations Pierre Bideau".

No Thanks, that's a disgrace and at the very least should be clearly pointed out by FC, that the photographerr no longer owns the photo.

We lived on block for this magnificent tower! It makes me homesick to see it, as I love Paris! JD

Looks cool, but anyways the topic is not new at all. However, what camera did you use for that picture? I mean brand and model?
Holidays in Sicily

Nice, and great to look at...

It's a good idea.
Sorry, nothing im my language: Portuguese.
I'm brazilian.

I congratulate you for your great effort!..

very tehnical pictures ,super!!!

love to go there! such a nice spot!

Makes it more personal

It's almost September of 2009 and I just checked the English FAQ's on picture upload size. It still quotes the old 150K for single and 300K for double uploads. Almost two years after the new 400K limit was introduced.

Are there news about the contest?

if you mange the feature photo option space, i think it will be better for us who like to put five feature photo with a short story........
thanks to all

I am bran new how do i upload a slide show

great idea. hope to see it available soon.

Good to have a foto contest once a month. So at lease others can joint in the foto contest and also i like to joint in. Thank you

Why should my photo be copyrighted by someone else?
They can keep their tower, there are many other things to take pictures from.

Hi, how can i upload my photo for the spring two months project contest? I cant figure it out. Btw are the old photo's allowed?
cheers

Great!! I glad to know this. Thanks for the info.

UGG BOOTS

Ugg boots,This article is about the type of footwear. For the brand known as “UGG”, see UGG Australia.

Ugg boots (sometimes called uggs) are unisex sheepskin boots, made of twin-faced sheepskin with fleece on the inside and with a tanned outer surface, often with a synthetic sole. Ugg boots are believed to have been first developed in New Zealand or Australia, although the exact date is uncertain.

There has been a dispute between manufacturers of ugg boots, as to whether “ugg” is a generic term and thus ineligible for trademark protection, especially in the region of origin. Deckers Outdoor Corporation holds the UGG trademark in more than 100 countries worldwide. Notable exceptions are Australia and New Zealand where the term is considered generic.

History:ugg boots cheap

The origins of the ugg boot style are disputed, with both Australia and New Zealand claiming to have been the origin of the footwear. Nevertheless, it appears that “fug boots” (thought to be a shortened form of “flying ugg boots”) were used by aviators during World War I, and that they were present in rural Australia during the 1920s. While it is not clear when manufacturing started, by 1933 ugg boots were being manufactured by Blue Mountains Ugg Boots, and Mortels Sheepskin Factory were making the boots from the late 1950s.

In regard to naming, it appears that ugg boots, ugh boots and ug boots have been used as generic terms for sheepskin boots in Australia and New Zealand since at least the 1970s, although individual accounts have suggested that the terms (or variations thereof) were employed earlier. The 1970s saw the emergence of advertising using the names, but Brian Smith, (who founded Ugg Holdings Inc), has stated that the boots were referred to as “uggs” long before the word was trademarked, The Mortel Skeepskin Factory has been making ugg boots since 1958 with Frank Mortel claiming he named them Ugg boots after his wife commented that the first pair he made were “ugly”.

In the 1960s, ugg boots became a popular option for competitive surfers, who used the boots to keep their feet warm after exiting from the surf. Surfing helped popularise the boots outside Australia and New Zealand, when surfer Brian Smith started selling the boots in the United States through the company Ugg Holdings, Inc. in 1979. After this was sold to Deckers Outdoor Corporation in 1995, ugg boots emerged as a fashion trend in the United States through Deckers’ promotion of their brand, with celebrities such as Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker and Pamela Anderson wearing the boots, (although Anderson renounced ugg boots in 2007 upon realising that they were made from animal skin). Deckers’ actions to promote their product “led to an exponential growth in the brand’s popularity and recognizability.” Deckers has reported sales of US$689 million under the UGG brand in 2008, an increase from US$14.5 million in 1995.

Design:Ugg boots are made from sheepskins with fleece attached. The fleece is tanned into the leather and the boot is assembled with the fleece on the inside. The soles of the boots are made from rubber, and the stitching is often prominent on the outside of the boot. The fleece draws away moisture, keeping the feet dry and at body temperature. Today they come in a variety of colours, including black, pink, blue, chestnut, and fuchsia. They are available in both slip-on and lace-up varieties and their height can range from just above the ankle to above the knee.

Ugg boots often have a synthetic sole, although this is not universal. They are available in a range of different colours as both slip-on and lace-up varieties, and they are produced by a number of manufacturers. The natural insulative properties of sheepskin gives thermostatic properties to the boots: the thick fleecy fibers on the inner part of the boots allow air to circulate and keep the feet at body temperature. This means that ugg boots can be worn without socks even in relatively cold weather.

Some variations of ugg style boots have also been made from kangaroo fur and leather. There are also synthetic boots. Although derided as “fake” by some in the industry, their lower price made them appealing to large retail chains such as Myer.

Hi Andrea
I've always been a fan of your creative pictures. Congratulations on being the featured photographer of the month. You definitely deserve the extra exposure
Regards
Deryck
