In the process of the subtle redesign of fotocommunity there will be some more changes as previously announced. Before we start with the new usability, there will be other important improvements.

Good news! Shortly we will launch the all new Channel "50+". A published study of the AGOF (Online Statistic Society for internet research) states that almost 25% of all internet users are so called "silver surfers" (users 50 years and older). This we will pay tribute to and therefore the new channel will be set up. It will be the direct counterpart to our Youth channel. Of course everybody can still upload photos to all channels, but we think that it sometimes might be an alternative to our other channels when it comes to topics of special interest for those users mentioned above. We think that is only fair in return to the youth channel. The new 50+ channel will substitute the nude channel. There has been pressure on us about having a channel showing nude content in the past over and over again, and since we became international it became more and more difficult to obey all kinds of minor protection laws in various countries of the world. So we came to the conclusion that we could do without this channel before any other channel first. We wish you a lot of fun with our new channel "50+"!

When I read the ongoing discussion about the new front page design and the concerns which came up in connection to the "jury selection" of photos for some of the time slots, I felt the need to work out a way to involve you into this procedure.

Here is what I came up with:

Since this is your community, why should you not be involved in the featuring of the photographers on the starting page?

Well ... let's give it a try and start the thing with 30 available slots for which you can propose the featured photographer!

How do you propose your favourite photographer?

Simple ... all you have to do is the following:

1) Please write a comment to the regarding photo, which explains why you submit this particular photo for the front page.

2) Post a comment to this blog entry with a link to the regarding photo (full link - including http://....)

Some basic rules:

We will not discuss your choice!
But of course we will watch that no "boneheads" try to offend or expose another member and we won't discuss our decission not to use that photo for the front page as well ... ;-)

Self proposals are not allowed for this project!
